Forbes 20 richest female Singers
That ultimate of entrepreneurial gossip rags Forbes last week released a list of “Cash Queens of Music”. Again clearly highlighting that the more talent you have the less likely you are to gain excessive wealth in the industry. Just take a look at the horror stories listed.
1. Madonna – 72 Million
2. Barbara Streisand – 60 Million
3. Celine Dion – 45 million
4. Shakira – 38 Million
5. Beyonce – 27 Million
6. Gwen Stafani – 26 Million
7. Christina Aguillera – 20 Million
8. Faith Hill – 19 Million
9. Dixie Chicks – 18 Million
10. Mariah Carey – 13 Million
11. Hillary Duff – 12 Million
12. Avril Lavigne – 12 Million
13. Martina McBride – 12 Million
14. Britney Spears – 8 Million
15. Carrie Underwood – 7 million
16. Nelly Furtado - 7 Million
17. Fergie – 6 Million
18. Jennifer Lopez – 6 Million
19. Sheryl Crow – 6 Million
20. Norah Jones – 5.5 Million
Geared towards artists who toured or had a new album released between June 2006 and June 2007. This list almost serves as a list of “ Women in music that I despise”, but most aren’t there for there music it the extra endorsement and fashion lines that seem to count.
Madonna at #1 is just downright depressing, one of the worst stage shows I have ever had to sit through and don’t even get me started on the dullness of her studio recordings.
Celine Dion, come on didn’t she go down with an iceberg or start stripping in Vegas? Bouncy is bouncy but I don’t know if her jugs are worth 27 million, it certainly isn’t her vocal skills that got her there.
Proving that bad press is as good as favourable Britney scraped in at #14 despite her lack of lip synching skill and semi retarded choreography moves.
Ending on a positive note it is nice to see Norah Jones, Nelly Furtado and Sheryl Crow slip in, but I can’t help but notice how many fantastic female performers are completely absent.
What do you think of the list?
