Ben Harper or Benjamin Chase Harper was born in Claremont, California in 1969. He has had a great career spanning 16 years and 11 albums including his newest Lifeline, the 11tracks of lifeline where record in just 7 days in a Paris recording studio. All though that fact is astonishing the sound was in no way diminished, and if anything it gave this album a really raw passion it feel like it was being transfered strait from Ben's head to the CD.
The key to this CD is the simplicity and variation of the songs . like most Ben Harpers albums it takes you on an exiting roller coaster of musical variation. the highs of ‘Put It On Me’ to the calming lows of ‘Younger Then Today’ and even reaching a nice medium with the singal In The Colors.
Like in most Harper albums there is a beautifully flowing instrumental, in this case its ‘Paris Sunrise’ lasting 5:18mins its the longest song on the album consisting of only a man and his guitar. Ben harper finds it very easily to communicate to his audience through his guitar.Unfortunately after listening to this album a number of times i still have not picked a stand out track, which may have something to do with the consistent level of professionalism that Ben has accomplished on this album.
For the last 5 years Ben Harper And The Innocent Criminals have managed to push out an album and it may just be me but i hope they continue on that statistics for a few more years to come.
