Bloc Party hits Festival Hall
August 8th 2007 09:37
This week has filled the ears of Melbourne town with an absolute plethora of music, many of our new favourite exports arriving fresh from their gruelling, two day stint in Bryon Bay, from the Splendour on the Grass festival.
Kicking off the festivities in the centre of Melbourne's CBD was Bloc Party, at Festival Hall. This four piece band from the UK proved to be exceedingly popular, their unique, edgy rock style has become a favourite for many of the Melbournite “undergrounders”, spilling onto the world's stages and taking over the airwaves, many of you might be familiar with their new one Hunting for Witches. Playing to a packed audience, tickets having rumoured to have sold out in 2 minutes, the Band tantalised their eager crowed with tracks from their critically acclaimed first album Silent Alarm, which they remixed later in 2005; with songs such as Banquet and This Modern Life, having found their place in the ears and hearts of many of the new fans of this incredibly talented group. Their taunted, eerie sound matched only by their incredible encores, of which the electric crowed convinced them to perform twice!
