'Climbing the Walls' - They Might Be Giants
November 26th 2007 02:11
They Might Be Giants is an American alternative group comprised of two members: John Flansburgh and John Linell. You might just call them 'John and John' but then you'd miss out on how fantastically large they are.
For they are genuine giants. Towering over 8m in height, the Johns combine melodic lyrics with hands large enough to crush a man's skull.
They've released 12 studio albums and, until this last week, I had never heard of them.
Well, I mean, I've heard of them like I've heard of all giants. You know, you're in the pub late one night, and one of the locals warns you not to go into the ravine late at night, for that was when the giants would come out of their hilly caves and pulverize human bones into porridge.
I'm reminded of this sweet comic strip, called Cyclops.
As far as I can tell, They Might Be Giants is comprised of giants, not cyclops. This is prudent information, as cyclops are easily defeated by some kind of depth perception trick, but giants will just eat you without a second thought.
The first track that I had heard from the band was on the Vice CD #12, a compilation with fun new acts together with established artists.
The track is 'Climbing The Walls' and I like. Here, you listen to a live performance:
