Coldplay to test new material
December 1st 2006 22:51
Just because Coldplay have been enjoying their families, doesn't mean they haven't been busy. Or at least, it doesn't mean that Chris Martin hasn't. He did, of course, appear on Jay Z's comeback album, Kingdom Come. Then Martin made a cameo on Ricky Gervais comedy The Extras as himself, though a markedly more egotistical and more pompous version of himself (I hope, anyway).
But, despite the promise that the band wouldn't release a new album for some years, it appears that they now have some new material to test out on live audiences. And where better to test out the new material than Latin America? The British rockers are planning up to ten concerts in four countries, those being Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. The band are expected to use this opportunity as a way of experimenting with some of their new material and gauging the response from the crowd. If the new material is being test out so early, it wouldn't be unreasonable to see a new album from them late next year.
The shows and dates are as follows.
Santiago Espacio Riesco (February 14, 15, 16)
Buenos Aires Gran Rex (20, 21, 22)
Sao Paulo Via (26, 27, 28)
Mexico City National Auditorium (March 3)
