Da Vinci Code

This Week in Music
The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) has asked those responsible for the upcoming film Da Vinci Code (based on the infamous but horribly-written novel by the same name) to change the film's soundtrack, as it was too scary for children. Ok, let me get this straight. They want Ron Howard, who hasn't done anything remotely kiddy since The Grinch (which in my opinion is far scarier), to change a movie about the Catholic Church and all things adult, and especially the music in it, which isn't supposed to be uplifting, to accomodate children? What are the BBFC smoking this time? I believe my points are best summarised in point form:
No. 1: This movie, as I have already stated, isn't remotely kiddy. The characters, the plot, the setting, the stupidity of the culture behind it all points to adult and, if so many millions of adults can't recognise this is fiction instead of fact, how would children. Actually, scratch that - alot of kids are probably far smarter than most adults anyway. Nevertheless, one of the first shots in the trailer is of a dead guy lying on a pentagram!
No. 2: It is a soundtrack for goodness sake! An instrumental and largely orchestral one at that! We're not talking Matrix-Marilyn Manson soundtrack! The music, I have to say, is actually good from what I've heard, partially unique from the others. Nevertheless, it remains a soundtrack, something which is aurally demanding and, if children can't listen to this without being scared, then they are lost on the last 500 years of music ranging from baroque to classical to romantic to that damned 20th century crap they call music (If you've ever studied music you'll know what I mean). I admit that there are some extremely slight instances that could be mistaken for terror, such as a very subtle evil laugh I picked up in the second or third track, but oh well.
