Iron Maiden in Australia
September 17th 2007 01:05
After some 15 years, the classic metal band, Iron Maiden, are gracing our sandy shores for a show in every main city. The band that has sold 80 million CDs worldwide have targeted Oz for the start of their globe-trotting tour.
Our country was the first to have dates announced so grab a pen and paper:
Feb 4th 08 - Perth @ Burswood Dome
Feb 6th 08 - Melbourne @ the Rod Laver Arena
Feb 9th 08 - Sydney @ Acer Arena
Feb 12th 08 - Brisbane @ the Entertainment Center.
You can have access to pre-sale tickets on the 20th of Sept 07 by becoming a member of their online fan club @ www.ironmaiden.com
The bassist and creator of Iron Maiden, Steve Harris, formed the band after he watched the movie Man in the Iron Mask (the 1975 version minus Leonardo Di Caprio). He liked the torture chamber, the Iron Maiden, that was used during the 19th Century and featured in the film. The Iron Maiden was a torture cabinet that the victim was forced into, they were forced to stand by the contraption while being pierced by sharp objects until they bled to death. Lovely stuff really.
Harris and guitarist Dave Murray are the only original members still in the band.
Iron Maiden have released 25 albums, to date, since their self-titled release in 1980.
Their "mascot", Eddie the Head, is where they garner most of their publicity. He features on their album covers and stage props and is an iconic graphic of heavy metal, right next to the devil horns \m/.
