James Blunt on Sesame Street
October 22nd 2007 00:16
James Blunt goes to downtown puppetville.
Sesame street rules, James Blunt not so much but this clip was too good to pass up. I love the Muppets and the show which just seems to keep on truckin’ has had it fair share of high profile musical guest over the years.
James Blunt was born in England in 1974 and became an international sensation with his overplayed ballad “Your Beautiful". Writing all his own material (credit where credit is due), Blunt plays a selection of instruments including piano, guitar, organ, marimba and mellotron.
Attending private school as a boy he later enlisted in the British Armed Forces where he carried on a family tradition of service. Achieving the rank of captain he was part of Nato peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.
Seeing the horrors of humanity must have fuelled his creative energies where he wrote the song “No Bravery”. Returning to Britian a year later he signed with Emi records and joined Custard Records with producer Linda Perry of 4 Non Blondes.
His acoustic, folk driven sound was captured in LA for his debut album Back to Bedlam which became one of the best selling releases of 2005. Recorded in party town Ibiza, his latest album All the Lost Souls was released last month and has garnered praise and impressive sales.
With a reputation for going hard with drugs (Read the Rolling Stone interview for tale of his exploits) he seldom sleeps.
His appearance on Sesame Street is the latest stop on his publicity tour. Asked about the experience he said of the day "It's a huge honour. It's an age-old program and one of the best kinds of things possibly on television at the moment because it's all about education. I met Elmo and Telly and I did a duet about the triangle. You learn something new every day. It was very funny."
Come and play, everything A-OK, watch Blunt’s appearance with Elmo on the famous street here.
