Kanye West remixes Michael Jackson's "Beat It"

January 10th 2008 10:30
This might be a sign of the impending apocalypse, a sign that there's no more room in Hell, forcing the dead to walk the Earth.

Next year, there's going to be a Thriller 25th Anniversary album, featuring MJ's classic songs from one of the most monumental records in music history - all remixed with inevitably forgettable stars-of-the-moment.

And this is Kanye West, throwing in the 'uh-huhs' and laying down his 'new beatz' to make Billy Jean into "Billy Jean '08".

The '08 tells us that it's the 2008 version of Billy Jean... just in case you thought this was the original.

West has sliced up the original track, throwing away the incredible buildup that made this song a classic. His musical contribution would be the drum track, but as a Stereogum commenter wrote:

"if it took more than five minutes to download some drum samples and fruityloops them onto the track, then, figuratively speaking, and to the extent that I truly care about this, I'd be impressed."
