Muse meet Killers, mashup ensues
February 22nd 2007 23:17
In light of a lack of real music news, here is an excellent mashup of the Killers' "When You Were Young" with Muse's "Starlight" by none other than team9 himself. It appears that team9's latest material is inspired by none other than Australian alternative radio station Triple J. Robbie Buck, of Triple J segment "Top Shelf," became aware of the indie mashups, and challenged team9 to mix two tracks familiar to the Triple J Audience. Of course, what would be better than the most popular songs of two BDO 07 headliners?
The result is bittersweet. While the majority of the track works, some sections leave wanting, especially the fact that the vocals for Starlight's bridge are overlayed across the same riff as the verse, signifying no real change in the structure. Nevertheless, it remains an excellent mashup by the ever-modest team9, and is a great addition to previous work.
Of course, those familiar with team9 will be aware of his "MySplice 06" Compilation, a collection of mashups that include Thom Yorke, the Beatles, Wolfmother, the Flaming Lips and others. Scroll down the team9 page to find them, and make sure you check out "Swan Together," a brilliant mix of Thom Yorke and the Beatles.
I wonder if this makes the list for Muse fans to sing together on June 15?
