New MC Lars song
December 20th 2006 20:50
Slightly-humorous nerd musician MC Lars has posted his latest song, "Hipster Girl," on his myspace. I can't help but feel a little unsettled that I know every single indie reference in that song. Still, it is, in his fashion, slightly humorous (finally someone who recognises that Donnie Darko makes no sense), paying out the wholly ironic subcultural trend that is indie elitism. Still, indie is just another victim on the ever-expanding list of MC Lars targets, among them RIAA, iPods, Hot Topic, Crunk Rap and of course who could forget "Signing Emo."
While I can't stand Wierd Al Yankovic, I actually slightly like MC Lars - don't ask me why. The appeal of his slightly copied style of "post-punk laptop rap" probably lies in its corniness, but hey, its catchy.
