As the traditional distribution channels and marketing avenues of the music and entertainment industries evolve it is refreshing to see the options increase for the consumer. No longer is price the defining factor in being able to obtain the music of your favourite performers.

It’s a boon that the availability of the products is permanently “in stock” online as opposed to going down the local HMV and having to wait for a re-order because the merchandise sells out so fast.

The latest Nine Inch Nails album Ghosts I-IV is the first release for Trent Reznor and his group since breaking ties with his record label Interscope in October last year.

Embracing the new media distribution technology that has emerged in the last few years NIN latest is available for download at the bands official site. Nine songs off the 36 track Ghosts I-IV collection are free of charge in a “High Quality MP3” format.

Removing the copyright protection on the tunes, the entire album in its complete form is also easily obtainable online for a fee of $5.00 and includes a 40 page PDF book of notes.

An article on informationweek.com reveals:
“For fans with more cash to spend, there's a $75 deluxe edition package that includes two audio CDs, a DVD, and a Blu-ray disc with the album in high-definition stereo and a slideshow. Finally, for $300, a person can get everything in the deluxe edition, plus a four-LP vinyl set in a fabric slipcase, and two limited edition prints numbered and signed by Reznor. The latter "ultra-deluxe" edition is limited to 2,500 people and is scheduled to start shipping May 1.”
