Pitchfork's Top 200 of the 1960s

August 16th 2006 03:47

Pitchfork 1960s

The list to top all lists - Pitchfork have put up Part One of their massive "Top 200 of the 1960s" list. Two hundred is a little excessive but, according to PItchfork:

"Of course, we recognize that even at 200 tracks, our list leaves off hundreds of other fantastic and amazing songs-- not to mention a handful of cuts from the Baby Boomer canon that our staff doesn't much care for. But if nothing else, we at least limited the maximum number of tracks per artist to five."

Part One covers the songs from 150 to 200, and it seems they'll update it daily from here on. With two James Brown songs, and Creedence Clearwater Revivals' Bad Moon Rising already in the lowest fifty of the countdown, it will be interesting to see what's in the remaining hundred and fifty, and especially what makes the top spot. Check it out here if you dare.
