Seals and Crofts
by KimmoMost of the time the music you grow up with is the music you like when you grow up and for me one of those bands are Seals and Crofts. A very soft slow rock band in the early 70s. This group consisted of two born in Texas men Jim Seals and Dash Croft with great harmony and great lyrics they meld so well you would think they always knew each other. Well I guess you could say they knew each other but not there whole lives with Crofts drumming with a local band and Seals played guitar for a band called Dean Beard and the Crew Cuts. After a while Crofts joined the band and the connection of Seals and Crofts was born.
After that they moved to Los Angeles to join the Champs. They also toured with the Champs in 1958. After about ten years of in-between many different bands they decided to become a duo and write and preform the way they like. Seals was on violin, saxophone and guitar and Crofts on guitar and mandolin. The instruments they played gave them a really great and unusual sound and for there time they where quite Brilliant.
With newly formed duo seals and crofts signed a contract with Warner Bros. Records in 1971 and realest there first album. They had realest an LP with a different organisation but it was relatively ignored. And although the first album was not a big hit they staid with Warner bros. and realest a second album intituled summer breeze in 1972 was charted at number 7.

Including best offs and normal albums the duo put out and amazing 18 albums and that’s not including signals. The best known are probably summer breeze 1972 and diamond girl in 1973. Although strangely forgotten they are well Werth a listen and a great 70’s soft rock duo.
