Music's Night of Sights - Amy Winehouse Performs
Well last weekend was the 50th Grammy Awards and though I’m not a fan usually it would be wrong to not at least acknowledge the most televised musical awards ceremony on the planet.
As usual this years event saw an abundance of big name celebrities, contemporary talent and classic performers. From Prince and Morris Day and the Time to Cyndi Lauper and Yoko Ono, the old school was represented against the likes of Alicia Keyes, Kayne West and Foo Fighters.
Dominating the ceremony was Amy Winehouse with a total of 5 gold gramophones including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. The industry respect forms an interesting juxtaposition against her highly publicised personal issues. Admittedly its scary to hear her speak with that thick accent when it’s so different to her singing voice.

The ultimate prize for “Album of the Year” went to electro funk pioneer Herbie Hancock for his Joni Mitchell tribute River: The Joni Mitchell Letters. Foo Fighters took home the "Best Rock Album Trophy" and also performed live.
