Keith Richards Uncut interview
The latest issue of Brit Music mag Uncut features an interview with notorious Rolling Stones Guitarist Keith Richards. In the Q&A he reveals a disdain for digital recording and modern rock music.
Stating that an aversion to compact discs really restricts him from listening to most new music, when questioned Richards reply, "I don't like CDs, quite honestly. They sound tinny to me.”
Keith (or is the Keef) goes on to say, "I don't listen to what's going on…I've not even heard the Arctic Monkeys. I know of them but I don't know anything they've done. I didn't like Oasis, I didn't like the Sex Pistols, I don't like any of those English rock n' roll bands. They're all crap."
Well at least he is honest and I tend to agree with the sentiments to a degree.
While scrolling through the uncut.co.uk site I also stumbled upon a fine link to a piece of vintage youtube rock n roll gold. The name Dirty Mac Band may not trigger instant excitement until you hear the members. Recorded in the late 60’s, lead singer John Lennon gets a few buddies together for a cover of the Beatles “Yer Blues”.
Who are his pals? Well on drum we have Mitch Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Lead guitar duties are filled by Eric Clapton and Bass is played by Keith Richards.
Watch the Dirty Mac band perform “Yer Blues” live.
