Cassius go Toop Toop

Here is the music clip of Toop Toop from French house/electronica duo Cassius. My current obsession, the duo are often unpredictable, this particular song being one of the most different from the rest of their repertoire. But the song is excellent and the video is... very French.

I used to love these guys!!! But I don't like this new tune at all. It grates on me something horrid! Very annoying.
I have followed Cassius since they called themselves La Funk Mob, back in the mid-90s, then they briefly called themselves L'Homme Qui Valat 3 Milliards (The Six Million Dollar Man), and then settled on Cassius.
It was the extraordinary disco-filtered house groove "Foxxy Lady" as L'Homme (which later appeared in an edited form on the rather wonderful Cassius "1999" album) which stormed my dance floor savvy. As a dj I became obsesses with the French house sound ...
They proved to be quite diverse, but I don't dig this new direction ... There are others doing it better.

Yeah I'm not surprised. Many of the established fans don't particularly like Toop Toop. It's a mix of indie rock and disco, which is very different from "Au Reve," and even the rest of "15 Again." The rest of the new album is much more dance, which is both good and bad - some of their songs become extremely repetitive while others are pure genius. Of course, that will all come in my review of the new album next week.
